Prof Stefan Decker is Professor for Databases and Information Systems at RWTH Aachen University and the director of the Fraunhofer Institute for Applied Information Technology in Birlinghoven, Germany. Previously he was Professor for Digital Enterprise at the National University of Ireland, Galway, director of the Digital Enterprise Research Institute (DERI) and the Insight Centre in Galway, Ireland, Research Assistent Professor at the Information Sciences Institute of the University of Southern California, USA, and held research positions at Stanford University and the University of Karlsruhe (now KIT). He is elected member of the Royal Irish Academy and Fellow of Engineers Ireland. He is working on Linked Data and Semantic Web technology since 1998. His current research interest includes Knowledge Representation and Data Modelling, Research Data Management, applications for Linked Data Technologies.
