Hans-Martin Neumann is Thematic Coordinator at the Austrian Institute of Technology and leads a team of 16 researchers working in the research field of Smart and Carbon-Neutral Urban development. Since 2017, he is Deputy Coordinator of the EERA Joint Program Smart Cities. From the start has been actively involved in the European Innovation Partnership on Smart Cities and Communities (EIP SCC) and in the SET-Plan Temporary Working Group 3.2 “Smart Cities and Communities), which has drafted an implementation plan for plus energy districts. As a project manager and work package leader, Hans-Martin Neumann is involved in many Smart City projects in Austria, Europe and Asia. These include the Smart City Light House projects SMARTER TOGETHER and RUGGEDISED, in which he and his team are responsible for scientific monitoring and the development of the evaluation methodology, the CITYKEYS project on smart city performance measurement, and the EU-CHINA collaboration on Sustainable Urbanization TRANSURBAN-EU-CHINA. Furthermore, he is the Technical Manager of the SCALE project, which provides scientific and managerial services to all EU Smart City Lighthouse projects.
