Dr.-Ing. Ahmed Hussein is currently an Autonomous Driving Concept Developer in the Intelligent Systems Functions Department at IAV GmbH in Berlin, Germany. His current research interests include self- driving vehicles architectures, sensor data fusion, automated driving localization, mapping & planning, and computational intelligence. He received his B.Sc. Degree in Mechatronics Engineering from the German University in Cairo (GUC), Egypt, in June 2012; followed by his M.Sc. Degree in Mechatronics Engineering from the German University in Cairo (GUC), Berlin campus, Germany, in May 2013, working on optimization of multiple mobile robots cooperation systems. In September 2018, he received his PhD Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Automation from Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (UC3M), Spain. During his doctoral candidacy, he was working with the Intelligent Systems Lab (LSI) research group, where he was one of the project leaders of the Intelligent Campus Automobile (iCab) project, a fleet of autonomous vehicles based on golf-carts for in- campus transportation. He was working on the development and implementation of vehicle system architecture, localization, mapping, planning, control, communication and cooperative driving techniques for multiple self-driving vehicles.
